I normally don't surf around youtube.com very much, but when I first found out that the Astroboy movie came out, I was directed to the popular video site to view the trailer. Then, almost by accident, I wandered across something that I haven't seen in almost thirty years: A Japanese cartoon titled "Triton of the Sea".
Wow! Speaking of memories! I remember the days when I was watching TV from Venezuela. It was Sunday morning, 10:30AM. I would turn the big TV in the living room to Radio Caracas TV. Everything was in Spanish and everything was in black and white. I would sit on the carpet and eagerly watch this strange cartoon about a boy with green hair, who would sit on a white dolphin and who would fight big, evil monsters of the deep with his bright, magical dagger. Triton was the coolest hero ever, and I would end up, years later, base several stories characters of mine on this young hero.
It was great seeing Triton again, this time in color and dubbed in English. I'm amazed how this even ended up on youtube.com. It was fun to watch, though. I googled around and found a few images on the web, and this one popped up. So, here it is. Now and then it's fun to let those feelings of nostalgia come back again, and to relive those happy times from my childhood. I'm glad I'm happy to share some of this with my friends on DA.
Now I can't wait for the Astroboy movie to come out, October 23rd. That was another cartoon I used to LOVE as a kid. Only thing was, I had to watch it in Spanish, and in black and white on TV. This time around, we'll get to watch Astro in color, and in English. It'll be great!
Enjoy!
